Who can apply?
All applicants must be 501(c)3 designated non-profit organizations, or hold non-profit status such as schools or units of government. The Oleson Foundation provides support to organizations located in and serving residents of Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Emmet, Charlevoix, Benzie, and Antrim Counties.
Funding Priorities
We are looking for sustainable, collaborative projects and programs that improve the quality of life for our area residents.
The Oleson Foundation does NOT typically fund:
grants to individuals
endowments, loans, or reimbursements
scholarships
camper scholarships
school-affiliated programs or trips
staff conferences, trips, or appreciation programs
infrastructure projects that are basic taxpayer responsibility
design, engineering, and planning
general operations
events, festivals, fundraisers, art shows, or other types of sponsorships
feasibility studies
Please Note: The Oleson Foundation does not provide feedback on grant applications that have been denied.
Grant Application Process
The deadline for grant applications is April 1 at 5:00 PM. Applicants must complete a grant application through the online grant portal at the link provided below. If the request is for items, please include bids or invoices for large equipment. Notification of the decision of the Board of Trustees will be in mid-June. The 2026 grant application will be available in the portal by February 1, 2026.

Grant Reports
2024 and Prior Reports: Grant reporting for all grants awarded in or before 2024 should use the 2024 Grant Report Form below.
2025 and After Reports: Grant reporting for all grants awarded in or after 2025 should be completed in the grant application portal.
